Yanet Health   College is a privately owned medical institution established in 2000E.c mainly to iron out the scarcity of health professionals of the country with the initial capital of 500,000 birr in Addis Ababa Addis Ketema sub-city. Like any newly established private colleges of the country, Yanet Health College set out its training program in three departments in diploma level. These are: Clinical Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Pharmacy Technology. Unlike other colleges, some of the prospective graduate of the college are hoping to be employed in the Five Owners Higher Clinics, which are found in Addis Ababa. These would be having its own share in alleviating the unemployment problems of the graduates, which are played at the moment by private investment endeavors in Ethiopia. However, the college has had all the latest modern medical equipments, well-furnished library, teaching aid, and qualified instructor, so that it would support its share in the development and improvement of health services rendered in the country. In fact, the college has a total of 33 staff among which 10 instructors, 4 laboratory assistants 16 administrative staffs.

Though the college has commenced its diploma programs since 2007 in three departments namely, clinical Nurse, Medical Laboratory Technology and Pharmacy technician, it has had a plan to upgrade the training level to BSC in Public Health.

It is the obvious fact that many private colleges of our country are producing a middle level health professional in reasonable numbers. But, Yanet Health College ardently believes that the trainees in health professional should have an adequate medical knowledge and skills, which are upgraded to degree level. This is because the trainees who acquired their first degree in Health would improve the quality of healthcare in the country. Therefore, Yanet Health College could be considered as one of the best centers of academic excellence, which materializes the long vision of the country in producing trained Public Health Professional.

The college does not simply launch to upgrade the existing programs to BSC degree level without an appropriate preparation in executing the academic challenge which confront the institution. It has invested a huge amount of money in constructing the infrastructure of the college to accommodate the demand of these newly launched programs in the colleges.

To sum up, Yanet Health College doesn’t look down the experience that it has had for the past couple of years in training students in diploma level. These few but challenging times would be taken as a bedrock in developing BSC Public Health programs. And it will be recorded the efforts as a corner stone in achieving these goals into actual fruitful results with the help and cooperation of the ministry of education in keeping the procedures and objectives of the college in the right truck.
